Corona virus in Italy has stopped filming the seventh sequel of the blockbuster Mission Impossible.

Production of the latest film Mission Impossible, starring Tom Cruise, has been halted in Italy following the outbreak of corona virus, the American film studio Paramount Pictures said on Monday.

The seventh sequel to the franchise was to be filmed for three weeks in Venice, the first recording location.

"Due to the safety and welfare of the cast and everyone involved in the filming, and the efforts and recommendations of the local Venetian government to avoid public gatherings in response to the threat of coronavirus, we are changing the production plan for the three-week period shooting in Venice, "a Paramount spokesman told AFP news agency.

He added that the whole team could return home as long as production continues.

It is not known how long the delay will take. The film is expected in theaters on July 23, 2021.

Italy confirmed on Monday the seventh death caused by the new corona virus, and officials have called for calm. Health authorities say the number of infected people has been declining this week after many were recorded over the weekend. According to the latest official data, the number of infected in Italy has risen to 229.
